Quarterback Jamarcus Jenkins one-yard quarterback sneak into the end zone with 12 seconds to play gave the Clarkston Angoras an 18-14 homecoming win over the Druid Hills Red Devils on Thursday night at Hallford Stadium.
The play was set up when Druid Hills set up to punt from the Clarkston 39 with 3:13 to play in the game. Clarkston’s Kennedy Bass got a running start from the left side of the Red Devil offense, blocked the punt and recovered it on the Druid Hills 46.
On second and 10 Jenkins dropped back and threw down the right side to Bass for a 28-yard gain to the Red Devils 18. On third and three from the Druid Hills 11 Damian Powell picked up the three yards for the first down to the eight, but a personal foul on the Angoras put them in a first and 10 from the 23.
Facing a third and 13, Jenkins got lose on a scramble for a 20-yard gain to the Red Devil six-yard line with 25 seconds to play. Three plays later Jenkins went into the end zone for the game-winner.
Druid Hills got one play, but Clarkston tackled a runner for no gain as the clock ran out to seal the win.
The Red Devils threatened inside Clarkston territory twice early in the fourth quarter, but the Angoras got an interception by Bass and stopped the Red Devils on downs as they clung to their 12-7 halftime lead.
Druid Hills’ Zach Johnson recovered a Clarkston fumble at the Angoras’ 31 with 6:52 to play to set up a go-ahead drive by Druid Hills.
Jacquez Cullars guided the Red Devils to the touchdown with a five-yard run to start the drive. He followed with a rollout to the right and found Zeke Nshimiriomana who made nice toe-tap catch along the sideline for a seven-yard gain and a first down.

Cullars dropped back and then ran a quarterback draw up the middle cut right and outraced the defense into the end zone with 6:31 to play to give Druid Hills the lead. Jaden George’s PAT was good for the 14-12 lead.
Druid Hills grabbed an early 7-0 lead with 5:17 to play in the first quarter as a 63-yard Nshimiriomana run set up a three-yard run by Cullars for the touchdown. George hit the PAT for the 7-0 advantage.
Powell got loose for a 43-yard run to the Druid Hills 23 late in the first half. A pass interference call gave Clarkston the ball at the Red Devils 11. Two plays later he scored on a three-yard run to pull the Angoras within 7-6 with 3:25 to play in the second quarter. A two-point run was no good.
Clarkston got the ball back at the 50 with 45 seconds left in the first half. Jenkins got lose on a draw up the middle to sprint 31 yards to the left corner of the end zone for the go-ahead score. The two-point conversion was no good and Clarkston took a 12-7 lead into the half.
Jenkins finished with 63 yards rushing on 16 carries and two touchdowns on the night to lead Clarkston. Nshimiriomana ran for 98 yards and a touchdown on seven carries to lead Druid Hills.
The win gave Clarkston its first two-win season since 2013 when the Angoras finished 4-5-1.
