Two teams remain undefeated and untied in the DeKalb County Middle School Football Conference as Salem and Cedar Grove continue their winning ways during Week 5 of the season.

Salem (5-0) continued their unscored on streak to five games with a 28-0 shutout of Freedom (0-3) last Saturday at Avondale Stadium. CJ Harris did yeoman’s work in the Salem win as he scored three touchdowns and contributed 10 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Jaleel Baugh also got into the act with an offensive touchdown, two two-point conversions and a punt return for a score.

Cedar Grove improved to 4-0 on the season with its third shutout of the season taking down Bethune (0-3, 0-2) 20-0 at Avondale. Quarterback Josiah Moore connected with D’Corey Holt for a pair of touchdown passes and finished with 125 yards through the air. Nick Hill added a 60-yard rushing touchdown in the game. The Saints are 2-0 in Region 4 action.

Jayden Joiner’s interception in the final seconds stopped a potential game-tying/winning drive by Renfroe to seal a 20-13 victory for Stone Mountain in the second game of a doubleheader at Hallford Stadium. Quarterback Jahlil Phelps had a four-yard touchdown run to open the scoring and followed late in the game with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Graves to extend the lead. In between the two scores Allen Sanders scored on a seven-yard run for the Pirates (1-2, 1-1). Renfroe fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in Region 2.

Lithonia jumped into the playoff fray with a 12-0 victory over Redan in Region 3 action at Godfrey Stadium. Leonard Rayford three touchdown passes of 34 yards to William Chaney and 73 yards to JaMarius Duncan to account for all the scoring in the game. Rayford finished with 168 yards passing while Duncan finished with 107 yards receiving. Steven Walls rushed for 63 yards and William Chaney added 76 yards.

Despite the play of Champion’s Albert Gooding, Jackson Cole and Destin Davies, Druid Hills pulled out an 8-6 win in Region 2 play at Hallford. Gooding had a touchdown while Cole and Davies each had an interception on defense for Druid Hills.

In other games Henderson (3-1, 2-0) knocked off Tucker (0-3) 18-0 in Region 1 to take command of the playoff spot. The first game at Godfrey had McNair (2-0-1) staying undefeated with a 28-0 win over Region 4 foe Columbia (0-3).
