Three local squads posted perfect records in action last week, led by an historic triumph for Southwest DeKalb. Coach Tyrus Taylor picked up his 200th victory as the head skipper for the Panthers in a 16-0 road decision over Stone Mountain April 16.
Now 200-168-3 overall, Taylor is in his 16th season as the head coach at Southwest DeKalb. The Panthers also rolled past Clarkston (17-0) April 12 and Clarkston (15-0) April 14 in improving to 10-11 overall on the year.
Junior Davion Graham (3-4; 3 RBI; 2 RS; 1 2B; 1 3B; 1 SB), junior Mike Faustin (2-3; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 1 3B; 1 SB), junior Sadir Ryan (2-3; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 2 2B; 1 SB), junior Nicholas Williams (2-2; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 1 2B; 1 3B) and junior Kevin Gray (2-3; 3 RBI; 2 RS; 2 SB) delivered multiple hits for Southwest DeKalb in the 16-0 triumph over Stone Mountain April 16. Junior Tremaine Wansley (3 IP; 2 SO; 4 BB; 5 HA) scored the pitching triumph for the Panthers.
Coach Brian Granger’s Lakeside Vikings also remained on a roll, sweeping three straight victories from Dunwoody (3-1) April 14, Maynard Jackson (12-5) April 15 and Fellowship Christian (9-8) April 16 in moving to 21-4 overall.
Coach Eric Love’s Druid Hills Red Devils blanked Miller Grove (21-0) April 13 and Miller Grove (15-0) again April 14 to improve to 10-7 overall on the season.
Tucker collected multiple hits from junior Noah Grayson (3-5; 3 RBI; 1 RS; 1 HR; 1 2B), junior Andre Hunter (2-5); junior Amir Streeter (2-5; 3 RS; 1 RBI; 1 HR; 1 2B) and sophomore Aidan Turner (2-2; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 1 HR; 1 2B; 1 SB) in a thrilling 9-8 triumph over Westlake April 13. Hunter earned the win.
