Coach Bobby Link’s Tigers knocked off Morrow (19-3) March 15, Morrow (14-0) March 20 and Morrow (17-3) March 20 by the cumulative tally of 50-6 in a Region 4-AAAAAA sweep to improve to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the league.
Coach Alexander Wyche’s Redan Raiders also registered an undefeated showing of 2-0, blasting to a pair of Region 5-AAA triumphs over Carver Atlanta (16-1) March 15 and Carver, Atlanta (20-0) again March 17 in moving to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Coach Eric Love’s Druid Hills Red Devils rounded out the list of perfect teams from last week, taking care of Whitefield Academy (6-2) March 20 in improving to 6-5 overall.
Druid Hills bounced back from an earlier 14-7 home loss March 6 to Whitefield Academy to win the rematch by a 6-2 count on the road March 20. Junior Collin Ross (4 IP; 5 SO; 4 HA; 1 ER; 2 BB; WP) and sophomore Cullen Riel (3 IP; 3 SO; 0 ER; 3 HA; 2 BB) teamed up to strike out eight and allow only one earned run over seven innings on the mound in the victory. Ross (2-4; 2 RS; 2 SB; 1 RBI) and senior Malachi Gilbert (2-3; 1 RS; 1 SB) led the way offensively.
Stephenson opened Region 6-AAAA action with a strong 12-2 triumph over Arabia Mountain March 22. Senior Kameron Taylor (3-4; 4 RBI; 2 RS; 1 HR; 1 3B) and senior Joseph Jackson (2-4; 2 RS; 1 RBI; 1 2B; 2 SB) paced a nine-hit offensive attack for the Jaguars.
Junior Michael Wright secured the pitching triumph, starting and going the full five innings while striking out three and allowing three hits, two earned runs and two walks.
Lithonia rolled past Clarkston by a 10-2 margin March 15, with freshman Stephen Taylor (3-3; 3 RS; 1 RBI; 1 SB), junior Wali Washington (2-2; 3 RS; 2 RBI; 1 2B; 1 SB) and senior Paul Tennell (2-3; 1 RS; 1 RBI; 1 3B; 1 SB) coming up big on the offensive end. Freshman Wesley Covert (3 IP; 1 ER; 1 HA; 5 SO; 6 BB; WP) and junior Daniel Bibb (2 IP; 4 SO; 1 HA) struck out nine and allowed two hits and one earned run on the pitching end.
Junior Tyler Sun tossed a no-hitter for Chamblee in a 15-0 blanking of Clarkston March 19, striking out eight over three innings. Chamblee picked up another no-hitter the next day, as senior Pete Constantinides (2 IP; 2 SO; WP) and junior Jay Krueger (1 IP; 2 SO) combined for four strikeouts over three innings. Sophomore Javier Tsai shined brightest on the offensive end, going 2-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
Junior Will Tansill tossed a pitching masterpiece in leading Lakeside to a 6-0 blanking of North Atlanta March 15. Tansill went the full seven innings, striking out seven and allowing three hits and one walk. Junior Reeve Walden (3-4; 1 RS), senior Will Thomas (2-4; 2 RS; 1 RBI; 1 2B; 1 SB) and junior Lucas Uyeda (2-3; 1 RB) collected multiple hits for the Vikings in the contest.
Lakeside next pounded out nine hits in a 12-6 triumph over North Atlanta March 19, led by senior Zaylan Washington (3-4; 5 RBI; 1 RS; 1 RBI; 1 2B) and Uyeda (2-3; 1 RS; 1 RBI). Senior Joseph Garcia gained credit for the pitching victory, striking out nine over six innings.
