Southwest DeKalb claimed the Region 5 Duals title last weekend and four other teams qualified for the GHSA State Wrestling Duals first round this weekend (Friday, January 22).
The Panthers captured the Region 5-5A championship with a victory over St. Pius X. Southwest DeKalb by virtue of its region title hosts Eastside this weekend. The winner advances to take on the North Springs/Cass winner in the second round.
Stone Mountain finished third in Region 5 and travels to Villa Rica to face off with Walnut Grove. The winner advances to meet up with the Cartersville/Villa Rica winner.
Dunwoody picked up a runner-up finish in the Region 7-7A Duals Tournament. The Wildcats are the defending DCSD County champs and go on the road to Cherokee High School to hit the matt against North Forsyth.
In Region 6-4A Miller Grove finished up as the runner-up to Marist and must go on the road in its first round match. The Wolverines take on Pickens County at Jefferson High School.
The Arabia Mountain Rams clinched a spot in the Class 4A State Duals by taking third place in 6-4A behind Marist and Miller Grove. Arabia travels to Hampton High School to line up against Central Carrollton. The winner moves on to face the Hampton/Madison County winner in round two.
