Junior running back Rashod Dubinion scored four touchdowns to lead his No. 1 ranked Cedar Grove Saints to a key Region 5-3A 33-6 win over No. 5 ranked Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday at GAC.

The previously undefeated Spartans (5-1, 2-1) opened the scoring on a forty-yard field goal in the first quarter before Dubinion answered with the first of three first half touchdowns on a 51-yard run to give the Saints (4-0, 3-0) the lead for good at 7-0. Luis Dominguez tacked on the PAT.

Dubinion added touchdown runs of six and eight yards in the second quarter as the Saints stifled the Spartan offense on the way to a 20-3 halftime lead.

The Spartans managed a 47-yard field goal early in the third quarter to cut the lead to 20-3 but would not score again in the game.

Cedar Grove answered the field goal with an Austin Smith 32-yard pass play to Trevon Ferrell. Dominguez’s third PAT of the game was good to make it 27-3.

Dubinion picked up his fourth touchdown of the night on a one-yard plunge in the fourth quarter to wrap up the 33-6 victory for the Saints. The junior finished the night with 178 yards rushing on 16 carries averaging 11.1 yards per carry on the night.

Smith finished the game hitting on 11 of 18 passes for 166 yards and the touchdown to Ferrell. The defense was led by defensive lineman Malachi Madison (9 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFL) and linebacker Everet Roussaw (7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL).

Region 6-4A
Stephenson and Arabia Mountain picked up big wins in Region 6-4A action over the weekend.

The No. 4 ranked Jaguars improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in region play with another hard-fought defensive game with DeKalb foe Miller Grove Wolverines (1-3, 1-2) coming out with a 19-7 victory.

Scoring was at a premium n the game until the 5:25 mark of the second quarter when Stephenson quarterback Sedrick Hill connected with Rahim Diarrassouha on a 30-yard touchdown pass play for a 6-0 lead.

The opportunistic Wolverine defense scored with just 1:53 left in the first half on an Evan Chapple 60-yard interception return for the score to take a 7-6 lead.

It was a short-lived advantage for the Wolverines as a Hill to Cordell Andrews 50-yard pass set up a five-yard touchdown run by Isaiah Screen with 22 seconds remaining the first half to send the Jaguars into the break up 13-7.

Andrews made the final score of 19-7 by returning a punt for a touchdown with 7:30 left in the third quarter.

Arabia Mountain 40, Mays 28
The Arabia Mountain Rams (2-2, 2-1) used a big punt block early in the game to jump on the Mays Raiders (3-4, 1-2) on the way to a 40-28 victory at Lakewood Stadium on Friday night.

The punt block and a 50-yard fumble return by Daveon Hinton aided a first half that had the Rams up 33-14 going into the break. Quarterback Brandon Adams and receiver Tawann Rome were a deadly duo against the Raiders’ defense as the pair hooked up on four touchdown passes in the game.

Xavier Wallace also had a 10-yard touchdown run for the Rams.

Region 6-2A
The Columbia Eagles (3-1, 3-1) bounced back from their first defeat of the season a week ago to knock off the McNair Mustangs (0-4, 0-4) 44-0 in Region 6-2A action on Saturday at Godfrey Stadium.

Freshman Jaden Baugh and senior Royce Tolbert both scored two rushing touchdowns in the game to lead the offense. Baugh also had a receiving touchdown on a pass from quarterback Eli Morgan to go with a rushing touchdown by Demontae Pope.

Marquez Harris had seven tackles and force a fumble to lead the Eagles defense along with interceptions by DaKwan Michel and Jaurice Hardrick.

Region 5-5A
In 5-5A play at Godfrey Stadium the Southwest DeKalb Panthers (2-2, 2-1) posted a 13-8 victory in a defensive struggle with the Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (1-3, 1-1) on Friday.

Stone Mountain (1-3, 0-3) dropped a tough 48-41 decision in a back-and-forth game with Northview (1-3, 0-3).
