Chamblee head volleyball coach Lorri Reynolds became the first DeKalb County volleyball coach to 300 career wins with a pair of victories to open the 2020 DCSD volleyball season on Tuesday, September 29.
Reynolds entered the 2020 season with a 298-178 record in her previous 11 seasons at the helm of the Lady Bulldog program. The season was delayed until the September 29th playdate when her club hosted 2019 playoff teams Dunwoody and Tucker.
She picked up a 2-0 win over Tucker to get win 299 and closed the evening with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dunwoody to collect win 300. The team put up a 2-1 mark to improve to 4-1 this fall to give Reynolds a 302-179 record overall in her 12th season.
Chamblee has enjoyed an eight season streak reaching the state playoffs under Reynolds’ guidance including three consecutive Elite 8 appears (2016-2018) and seven Sweet 16 appearances.
The 2019 season moved Reynolds into the career wins’ lead over former Tucker head coach Robin Potter (272-236-2) and ahead Lakeside’s Angela Thompson (295-190, 14th season) who sits in second all-time in DeKalb. Thompson was in second behind Potter heading into the 2019 season with a 267-171 mark going 24-19 last year and currently 4-0.
Reynolds and Thompson go head-to-head this evening as Lakeside travels to Chamblee for a tri-match including North Atlanta beginning at 5:00 pm.
