The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs golf team will hit the Sunset Hills Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (May 20-21) to take part in the Class 5A Girls’ State Golf Championships after qualifying from their Area 3-5A Golf Tournament.
Chamblee led by Tiffany Li’s 97 finished as the Area 3-5A runners-up with a team total of 317. Buford won the tournament with a 284 and Loganville also qualified for state with its third place score of 327.
Kristen Nwadike swung her way to a 106 and Olivia Li rounded out the team score with a 114. Sarah Pruitt Messick finished with a 122.
The Arabia Mountain Lady Rams finished in fifth with a team score of 360 coming up short of a team qualifying score. Miracle Goolsby shot a team low 100 to qualify as an individual for the state tournament. She will also be at Sunset Hills along with the Chamblee team.
Chamblee finished fourth in the boys Area 3 Tournament with a team total of 392 and Arabia Mountain came in fifth with a score of 446. The Rams did get one qualifier into the state tournament as Torrance Allen shot an 83 to qualify for the state tournament at Sunset Hills.
DeKalb picked up another state qualifier on the girls’ side as Lakeside’s Kaylee Cornelius shot an 88 at the Area 4-7A Tournament. Cornelius was the DeKalb County girls’ champ back in April.
Cornelius goes to Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer to compete in the Class 7A girls’ state tournament also on Monday and Tuesday (May 20-21).
