The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs and Dunwoody Lady Wildcats open up Sweet 16 soccer state playoffs action today as the first of seven DeKalb soccer teams to reach the second round.

Chamblee (9-6-3) plays at North DeKalb Stadium tonight at 6:00 pm as the Lady Bulldogs host the No. 2 ranked Decatur Lady Bulldogs (13-5-1) with a spot in the Class 5A state playoffs Elite 8 on the line.

The two teams back on February 12 with Decatur taking a 2-1 win as Chamblee was in the midst of a five-game losing streak to open the season. Chamblee had gone 9-1-3 since that game including their big 5-1 win over Walnut Grove in the first round.

Molly Silverman led the way with two goals and an assist in the first round win.

Decatur defeated East Paulding 3-0 to advance.

The No. 5 ranked Dunwoody Lady Wildcats (13-4-0) face their second Top 10 ranked opponent in the Class 6A state playoffs as they travel to No. 3 Dacula (14-2-0) in Sweet 16 play.

Dunwoody downed No. 7 Creekview 3-0 in the opening round avenging a heartbreaking penalties kick loss to the same team in the 2018 Sweet 16. Dacula is coming off a relatively easy 9-0 first round victory over Douglas County.

Julia Gild, Lily Garrigan and Sophia Megathlin scored in the win for Dunwoody.

Boys’ Sweet 16 play kicks off on Thursday with five DeKalb teams still in the postseason led by No. 3 Lakeside (15-1-3) which entertains Forsyth Central (13-5-0) in a 7:30 pm Class 7A contest at Adams Stadium.

Lakeside is coming off a tough 1-0 win over Peachtree Ridge in the opening round as goalie Andrew Seybolt pitched a shutout.

Class 6A playoff action has the No. 5 ranked Tucker Tigers (15-2-2) hosting No. 10 Greenbrier (13-5-0) at Hallford Stadium at 7:00 pm. Tucker defeated Coffee 5-0 to advance to the second round while Greenbrier knocked off South Effingham 4-0.

Two Class 5A DeKalb teams are ranked and hosting games on Thursday.

The No. 2 ranked (No. 11 USA Today National Poll) Cross Keys Indians (15-2-0) play hosts to No. 9 ranked Lithia Springs (15-2-0) in a 7:00 pm game at North DeKalb Stadium. Cross Keys advance with a 7-1 win over Cedar Shoals while Lithia Springs knocked off Kell 6-3.

Another Class 5A Top 10 match is set for 6:00 pm at Avondale Stadium with the No. 7 Clarkston Angoras (13-4-1) hosting No. 10 ranked Rome (14-4-0). Clarkston was a 11-1 winner over Loganville while Rome knocked off No. 5 ranked Decatur 2-0.

Druid Hills (9-8-1) hits the road to August to take on Richmond Academy (9-6-1) at 6:30 pm in a Class 4A second round match. Druid Hills moved into the Sweet 16 with a 4-0 win over Shaw while Richmond Academy defeated West Laurens 3-0.
