The Lakeside Vikings finished off the regular season with a 57-35 Region 7-7A home victory over the Brookwood Broncos on Friday night.
After Brookwood’s Toju Etine’s three-pointer pulled the Broncos within 26-25 with 6:29 in the third quarter, the Vikings went on a 10-run to pull away.
Matt Holt started the run with two free throws and Tighe Hunter followed with a three-pointer from the left corner on an assist from Holt. Holt would add a layup on a nice pass from Elwood Moore to make it 33-25. Damon Davis would add a free throw and a drive for a layup to make it 36-25 with 2:48 to play in the quarter.
Brookwood would answer with a pair of quick baskets by Malik Forde and Amari Kelley to pull the Broncos within 36-29.
Hunter would hit another three, this time from the right corner, as the Vikings took a 40-29 lead into the final quarter.
The Vikings did not let up in the fourth quarter going on a 14-2 to put the game away in the first 4:10 of the period.
Antwan Tate got Lakeside rolling in the run with three consecutive layups and Dallas Teague would add a pair of layups and two free throws of his own to make it a 54-31 advantage with 3:50 to play.
Brookwood could get no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
Matt Holt and Damon Davis would both hit for 13 points and grab seven rebounds to lead the Vikings (12-10, 5-7) while Tighe Hunter hit for 9 points (all third quarter three-pointers).
Justin Randle had 14 points to lead Brookwood (6-17, 2-9).
The Vikings are locked into the fourth seed for the Region 7-7A Tournament at Central Gwinnett this coming week.

Brookwood used a 20-3 run in the final 4:48 of the first half to take control of the Region 7-7A girls’ game at Lakeside on the way to a 58-43 victory over the Lady Vikings.
Tyja Traore scored 11 points in the first 9:35 of the first half to help the Lady Vikings build an 18-8 lead with 5:17 to play in the second quarter.
Brookwood responded with the 20-3 run started by a Hunter Thacker three-pointer. Mariah Calloway would hit three three-pointers in the run including one at the buzzer sending the Broncos into the half up 28-21.
Lakeside was still within 10 (39-29) at the end of the third quarter despite another five points by Thacker, including a three-pointer.
Kiarra Jackson hit a basket and a free throw early in the third quarter that cut the lead to single digits (41-32) with 6:57 to play, but Thacker hit her third three of the game to stem the comeback attempt.
Brookwood hit 11 of 14 free throws down the stretch to keep the Lady Vikings (10-12, 4-8) at a distance.
Traore finished with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Lady Vikings. Maria Calloway had 15 points to lead four Brookwood players in double figures including Kiki Adams and Thacker with 11 each and Jalyn Bell with 10.
