The 2017 DeKalb County Football Coaches Association All-Star Game is set for tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 16) at Avondale Stadium with kickoff set for 2:00 pm.
Close to 100 of the top seniors from the 19 DeKalb County football programs get one final opportunity to play in front of the home town fans as Team Darkside faces off with Team Attack.
Team Darkside is coached by Redan’s Roderick Moore and features players from Cedar Grove 13-1, Chamblee 1-9, Columbia 5-6, Cross Keys 0-6, Decatur 4-6, Druid Hills 1-9, Lithonia 3-7, Redan 3-7, St. Pius X 8-6, SW DeKalb 8-4 and Towers 4-6.
Team Attack is coached by Lakeside’s Cam Jones with Martin Luther King Jr.’s Deante Lamar serving as defensive coordinator. The team selected features players from Arabia Mtn 9-3, Clarkston 1-9, Dunwoody 3-7, Lakeside 2-8, M.L. King 4-6, Marist 14-0, McNair 3-7, Miller Grove 5-6, Stephenson 7-4, Stone Mountain 1-9 and Tucker 12-2. Marist players will unlikely participate as they are playing in the postponed Class 4A state championship game tonight (Friday).
Admission is $7 per person. Parking at Avondale Stadium will be limited due to postponed events at DeKalb School of the Arts being rescheduled for Saturday at 11 am and 2 pm. Parking will be first-come, first serve at the school. Additional parking is available at the Avondale Walmart on the side closest to the stadium with stairs leading up to the field level.
