Adams Stadium hosts two first round games of the middle school football Trail to the Title Playoffs beginning at 10:30 am on Saturday.

The 2017 DCSD Middle School football regular season wrapped last Saturday with several teams clinching playoff berths behind another big defensive day.

Seven shutouts in the eight games played gives DeKalb teams a total of 39 on the season out of 60 games on the schedule.

Stephenson 24, Champion 0
Champion was playing for its playoff life against defending champion Stephenson on Saturday at Hallford Stadium, but the Jaguars clinched the No. 1 seed from Region 2 with a 24-0 victory.

The loss put the Chargers at 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in Region 2 action. The Jaguars (5-1, 4-0) enter the postseason with a four-game win streak and four shutouts. Stephenson is ranked No. 16 in the B2C Prime 21 Poll.

Stephenson led 6-0 at the half behind a 65-yard punt return by Cordell Andrews in a tough defensive half of football. The Jaguars came out and scored twice in the third quarter on touchdown runs of 40 yards by Zachary Pitts and 20 yards by Darius Owens.

Stephenson closed out the game on a 35-yard touchdown run by backup quarterback Bryce Bowens. The Jaguar defense only allowed Champion two first downs in the game.

Cedar Grove 8, Chapel Hill 0
The Cedar Grove Saints picked up their second shutout of the season with an 8-0 victory over Chapel Hill to earn the No. 2 seed in Region 4 heading into the Trail to the Title Playoffs.

The Saints (3-2-1, 3-1) kept the pressure on Chapel Hill throughout the game with five quarterback sacks and four more tackles for a loss.

The only score of the game came on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Kashawn Britt to Mazin Murray.

Lithonia 6, Miller Grove 0
Tough defense was the name of the game as Lithonia knocked off miller Grove 6-0 for the Region 3 No. 1 seed on Saturday at Godfrey Stadium.

Styland Scott scored the only touchdown of the game with his rush into the end zone. The Bulldog (5-1, 4-0) defense was led by Omarion Stansbury’s forced fumble to thwart a Miller Grove (4-2, 3-1) drive.

Peachtree 8, Chamblee 6
The Peachtree Patriots (3-3, 3-1) defeated the Chamblee Bulldogs (2-4, 2-2) in a hard fought 8-6 game to claim the Region 1 No. 2 seed into the Trail to the Title Playoffs.

Chamblee’s Jacari Waller-Watkins scored the Bulldogs touchdown.

Renfroe 27, Druid Hills 0
The Renfroe Bulldogs shutout the Druid Hills Dragons 27-0 at Adams Stadium on Saturday on the way to solidifying their No. 2 seed from Region 2 heading into the Trail to the Title Playoffs.

Marquis Hood scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and Wilson Scott connected in the red zone with Mekhi Lloyd for another offensive score for Renfroe (4-1-1, 3-1). Harrsion Hannah tacked on a scoop and score following a Druid Hills fumble.

Druid Hills (2-4, 0-4) had a pair of Darius Benton touchdowns called back due to penalty.

Tucker 53, Henderson 0
The Tucker Tigers rolled to a 53-0 shutout of the Henderson Cougars as they wrapped up a fifth consecutive undefeated regular season (30 consecutive regular season wins) at Adams Stadium on Saturday.

Tucker (6-0, 4-0), ranked No. 3 by B2C, was led by Latavius Johnson who put up 282 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns in the game. Omari Gordon rushed for 44 yards and a pair of touchdowns of his own.

Outside linebackers Joshua Morgan and Barry Manning hit for eight tackles each in the game as the Tigers picked up their fifth shutout of the season.

Henderson finished 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Region 1 standings.

Bethune 28, Columbia 0
The Bethune Lions rolled to a 28-0 shutout victory over the Columbia Eagles last Saturday at Avondale Stadium.

The Lions (6-0, 4-0) are ranked No. 4 in the B2C Prime 21 and have four shutouts on the season. Columbia finished 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the region.

Rashod Dubinion had another big game for the Lions as he caught three passes for 90 yards and a touchdown to go with 60 yards rushing and touchdown. He played tough on defense as well with 5 tackles, 1 forced fumble and an interception.

Jabarhi Cleckley was 4 of 9 passing for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns and Janiran Bonner had two touchdown receptions and 80 yards receiving to go with 8 tackles on defense.

Jamel Nelson was 1 of 2 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown while contributing 6 tackles and a fumble recovery on defense. Ke’juan Malcom added 6 tackles and a fumble recovery on defense.

Redan 0, Freedom 0
Redan ended up with its second scoreless tie of the season as the Raiders (1-3-1, 0-3-1) and the Freedom Rams (1-4-1, 0-3-1) battled to a scoreless tie at Hallford Stadium on Saturday.

Redan and Renfroe fought to a 0-0 tie in the season opener.
