Dunwoody opened the 2016 Class 5A Boys’ State Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 win over Cass at Dunwoody on Monday.
Cole Brainard improved to 10-3 on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles and Brandon Gita improved to 10-5 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
JT Melton and Daniel Bynum sit at 8-2 on the season with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles. The tandem of Cade Lautenbacher and Adam Drucker cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles to improve to 7-1 on the season.
The Wildcats are now 16 -2 on the season.
The Tucker Lady Tigers season came to an end with a 4-1 loss on the road to Newnan in the first round of the Class 6A Girls’ State Playoffs. Tucker finished 8-5 overall.
