Four DCSD Middle School basketball teams kept their undefeated marks during quarterfinal play last Saturday as the tournament moves into the quarterfinal round on Wednesday.
Two semifinal games are set for Stephenson Middle School on Wednesday featuring a battle of undefeated Chamblee (15-0) and defending champ Stephenson (15-0) in the boys’ 6:20 game.
Chamblee knocked off 2015 semifinalist Lithonia (9-6) 55-34 to advance to the semis. Stephenson rolled to a 58-20 win over Druid Hills (8-7) to move within one win of defending its title.
A pair of one-loss teams face off in the girls’ game at 5:00 pm at Stephenson as Peachtree (14-1) takes on defending champion Stephenson (14-1).
Peachtree knocked off 2015 semifinalist Renfroe (9-6) 41-33 to advance to the semifinals. Stephenson defeated Chapel Hill (10-5) 34-17 to advance.
Cedar Grove Middle plays host to the other two semifinal games as Champion (15-0) and Salem (15-0) put their undefeated marks on the line against one another in the 5:00 pm girls’ semifinal.
Champion defeated Chamblee (9-6) 40-25 to advance while Salem moved forward with a 38-27 win over Miller Grove (11-3).
The boys’ semifinal at Cedar Grove has Champion (14-1) tipping off against 2015 runner-up Miller Grove (11-4) at 6:20 pm.
Champion defeated Henderson (11-4) 57-37 to advance to the semifinals. Miller Grove, a No. 2 seed, slipped past Region 4 No. 1 seed Chapel Hill (12-3) 47-42 to reach the semifinals again.
