The Georgia Sports Writers Association announced its 2015-16 All-State selections today and DeKalb County has seven players that received honors led by Cedar Grove with four players being named.

Coach Jermaine Smith’s Class 3A state semifinalist Cedar Grove Saints selections were led by Class 3A All-State Defensive Player of the Year Antwaun Jackson, a 6-3, 294 defensive lineman, who finished the year with 96 total tackles including 52 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, 7 fumbles caused and 3 fumbles recovered (1 for TD).

Jackson, who is enrolling at Auburn this month, played on the winning East team in last weekend’s Army All-American Bowl while recording 2 tackles (1 for a loss of 4 yards).

Joining Jackson on the Class 3A First Team was senior linebacker and teammate Elysee Mbem-Bosse (6-2, 230). Mbem-Bosse finished the year with 86 total tackles (17 for loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 Int and 2 fumble recoveries).

Cedar Grove’s other Class 3A First Team selection is junior offensive lineman Netori Johnson (6-5, 330) who was key in opening holes and pass protecting for the Saints.

Senior running back, Labron Morris, a Preseason All-State selection, was named a Class 3A Honorable Mention selection after rushing for 1,738 yards (second consecutive season over 1,700 yards) and 19 touchdowns.

Stephenson had two defensive linemen named to the Class 5A All-State First Team Defense in senior Michael Pitts (6-4, 230) and junior Aaron Sterling (6-3, 265).

Pitts was second on the Jaguars’ team in total tackles with 97 including 30 tackles for a loss and 17.5 sacks. He also had 4 fumbles caused, 2 fumble recoveries and 18 quarterback hurries from his defensive end position.

Sterling finished fourth in total tackles for the Jaguars with 80 including 34 tackles for a loss and 23.5 sacks and 20 hurries. He also had 2 interceptions and caused 3 fumbles.

Lithonia senior defensive end Jordan Smith (6-6, 220) also received All-State honors being named to the Class 4A First Team Defense.

Smith finished the season with 104 total tackles to lead the Bulldogs on defense. He put together 26 tackles for a loss and 3 sacks while causing 6 fumbles and recovering 1.
