Kaylin Roman had an outstanding career playing tennis at Southwest DeKalb and has continued her success at Johnson C. Smith University by being named the 2015 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Women’s Rookie of the Year for 2015.
Roman finished her career at Southwest DeKalb in 2014 compiling a 10-3 overall record for the season to finish 30-21 in four years on the court to earn a scholarship to Johnson C. Smith.
The rookie season for the Bulls included a 7-0 record at No. 6 singles (6-0 in conference play) and a 9-8 record at No. 3 doubles, including a 7-2 record in conference action with teammate Michaela Colvin. The pair won eight of their last 10 matches together, including the last seven.
The Bulls finished the season 11-10 overall and 9-4 in conference action before losing to the No. 1 seed in the second round of the CIAA Conference Tournament.
