The No. 8 ranked Cross Keys Indians dispatched Jonesboro 3-1 with a bit less drama than their first round 5-4 shootout victory against Carrollton.
Felipe Lopez opened the scoring for the Indians by connecting on a penalty kick for an early 1-0 lead. Gilbert Ramos teamed up with Victor Owiredu to add the second and third goals as Cross Keys extended the lead to 3-0.
Jonesboro added a late goal to avoid the shutout and make the final 3-1.
The Indians (13-3-1) victory moves them into the Elite 8 for the second time in school history, the last coming in 2011 when the team went 14-6-1 under Coach Bryan Wallace.
Cross Keys advances to take on No. 4 ranked Johnson-Gainesville on Saturday, May 9 in a second consecutive road playoff game. Johnson (17-2-0) advanced to the Elite 8 with a 4-0 win against Thomas County Central.
Game time has been set for 1:00 pm at Johnson.
