Explore the Many Engaging School Choice Options Across DeKalb County Schools

(STONE MOUNTAIN, GA)— The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is excited to welcome families and students to the School Expo this Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join us at the District’s Administrative Complex located at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard in Stone Mountain for a day filled with exploration and opportunities to learn about school choice options.

This event is a unique chance for families and students to discover the extensive array of school choice programs available for the 2025-26 school year. Attendees will engage directly with district and school administrators who will be on-site to discuss:

  • Program Options: From Dual Language Immersion, High Achievers Magnet, International Baccalaureate, Montessori Schools, McNair Discovery Learning Academy, DeKalb Early College Academy, Hardship Transfers, other Theme and Special Interest Magnet Programs, and many, many more choices.
  • Eligibility Requirements: Learn about the criteria and rigor for each program to find the best match for your child’s needs, interests, and aspirations.
  • Application Processes: Get step-by-step guidance on how to navigate the application and enrollment procedures.

DCSD’s School Expo is a convenient way to speak with school officials. In one place, they will answer questions, provide resources, and discuss curriculum rigor and eligibility. It is an opportunity for families to receive tailored advice to help make confidently informed decisions about their child’s education.

The online school choice application period for DeKalb County Schools officially opens on October 1 and closes on October 31, 2024. Lottery notifications will begin on December 13, 2024, allowing families ample time to prepare for the 2025-26 school year.

“All schools in the DeKalb County School District are great,” said Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton. “Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore the incredible array of educational pathways we offer. Stop by and meet our dedicated teachers and school leaders, who are committed to preparing all students for lifelong success.”
