On this Veteran’s Day, I hope you’ll join me in paying tribute to the courageous men and women who have served this great nation in any of our armed services. We honor the sacrifice and patriotism of these remarkable individuals who volunteered to defend the values and freedoms that define our United States of America. We are truly grateful to these extraordinary veterans who did their part to ensure our country’s safety and security.
In the DeKalb County School District, we are privileged to have countless veterans who have chosen to continue serving the community through education. I have seen firsthand the unmistakable commitment to excellence, leadership, and perseverance in our classrooms and schools that distinguished their military careers. Our scholars benefit from these perspectives, which provide living examples of patriotism, civic duty, and the value of being part of something greater than oneself.
We salute your service in our nation’s armed forces and thank you for your continued contributions to safeguarding America’s future through the undeniable power of public education.
Dr. Devon Q. Horton, Superintendent
DeKalb County School District
