DCSD Celebrates Employee Appreciation Day with
Celebrations Filled with Gratitude and Generosity
On Friday, October 6, the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) came alive with festivities and celebrations as the District office administrators and staff visited all 138 schools and centers to show their appreciation on Employee Appreciation Day! This special occasion, which coincided with Fall Break for students and a professional development day for staff, was a testament to DCSD’s commitment to recognizing and thanking its loyal and dedicated employees.
But the festivities didn’t end there. Bus drivers and monitors were celebrated on Tuesday, October 10, since they were off on Friday, ensuring that every valued employee was honored.
A special highlight of the day was the district’s commitment to its returning employees from the 2022-2023 school years. They were rewarded for their loyalty with their entire $2,000 retention incentive rather than $1,000 per semester as initially promised. These funds serve as a token of gratitude for their hard work and commitment to the students, families, community partners, and each other in DeKalb County.
During the celebrations, new DCSD teachers for 2023-2024 received the first installment of their sign-in bonus, which acknowledges their enthusiasm and commitment to shaping the district’s future.
The third group of DCSD employees honored were all new staff members for the 2023-2024 school year. They received unique “swag bags” filled with an array of goodies, including gift cards, portfolios, hats, and pens, which serve as a symbolic gesture to welcome all newcomers to the DCSD family.
These two days were filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt gratitude. Employee Appreciation Day is an annual reminder that the DCSD values and cherishes the dedication and commitment of its entire workforce, making it a great place to be successful, learn, and make a lasting impact.
