The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has once again received recognition for having some of the best high schools in both Georgia and the nation. According to U.S. News and World Reports, six DCSD high schools have achieved rankings in the top 100 in Georgia.
These schools are:
- DeKalb School of the Arts (4)
- DeKalb Early College Academy (22)
- Chamblee High School (31)
- Dunwoody High School (63)
- Arabia Mountain High School (66)
- Lakeside High School (97)
“This is a tremendous honor, and these schools should be immensely proud of their academic achievements and preparedness that helped earn this exceptional distinction,” said DCSD Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton. “Congratulations to the hardworking students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners who invest so much of themselves. They all share in this impressive recognition.”
The criteria used in calculating these rankings were College Readiness (30%), State Assessment Proficiency (20%), State Assessment Performance (20%), Underserved Student Performance (10%), College Curriculum Breadth (10%), and Graduation Rate (10%).
Druid Hills High School (116) and Cross Keys High School (196) made it into U.S. News & World Report’s top 200 rankings.
DeKalb School of the Arts was lauded for its Graduation Rate (98 percent), AP Testing Participation Rate (98 percent), and Reading Proficiency (93 percent).
