More than 170 students vaccinated and given a $100 gift card

Indian Creek ES Vaccination eventIndian Creek Elementary School rolled out its “Be A Superhero” COVID-19 vaccine drive on Feb. 5.

The event was sponsored by the Clarkston Coalition in conjunction with the DeKalb County Board of Health. Indian Creek developed a creative strategy involving staff members dressing up in a costume to promote the “Be a Superhero, Get Vaxxed” event. To create an exciting environment, families had the chance to play games while waiting to be seen. Goody bags with comic books, masks, crayons, pens, and stickers were given to children who received a shot.

Families were encouraged to attend the hero-themed COVID-19 vaccine drive that had a total of 165 children vaccinated throughout the day. At least 170 people were vaccinated with the first dose, and several obtained their second or third vaccine shot. Students were encouraged to bring their entire family to be vaccinated at the event. Each person vaccinated received a $100 gift card.

The school will host a second event on March 5 with the same incentives to encourage students to receive their second shot.
