STONE MOUNTAIN, GA. – The DeKalb County School District’s (DCSD) schools at the elementary, middle, and high school level demonstrated significant progress in how schools are performing as measured by Georgia’s accountability system, College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).
 
The 2019 CCRPI scores were released today by the Georgia Department of Education. The 2019 and 2018 CCRPI scores are directly comparable. Scores from prior years are not comparable because the state made improvements to the CCPRI calculation as part of its State Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Plan. The 2018 CCRPI was the first to use the new calculation.
 
The table below provides a comparison between DCSD and State scores for 2018 and 2019. DCSD not only closed the gap but surpassed the State scores at the elementary and middle school level by 1.9 and 1.1 points, respectively. At the high school level, DCSD outpaced the State gains by 0.4 points. Furthermore, DCSD increased the overall District score by 5.4 points while the overall State score decreased by 0.7 points, narrowing the gap to a mere 0.5 points.

All three school levels increased CCRPI overall scores this past year with the most significant growth occurring at the elementary level with a 7.1 point gain, followed by the middle with 6.0 points, and then high school with 2.1 points.

“We are beyond ecstatic with our CCRPI scores and surpassing the state scores at the elementary and middle school level,” said Superintendent/CEO Dr. R. Stephen Green. “We also want to recognize the noteworthy progress at the high school level. These gains demonstrate the hard work and commitment of our staff, students, and families. We will continue to strive to maintain higher levels of performance and close the achievement gap across all student populations.”

DCSD’s remarkable school progress was mirrored throughout all regions of the county, including the schools identified by the State as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), and Promise. Of the thirty-two (32) schools identified by the State, twenty-three (23) made CCRPI gains (71.9%), and nine (9) of the twenty-three (23) had double-digit growth (39.1%). The following schools demonstrated a ten (10) or higher point increase:

• Eldridge L. Miller Elementary School- from 50.6 (2018) to 74.5 (2019)- 23.9 points
• Jolly Elementary- from 55.0 (2018) to 74.6 (2019)- 19.6 points
• Stoneview Elementary- from 46.3 (2018) to 65.2 (2019)- 18.9 points
• Chapel Hill Elementary School- from 56.1 (2018) to 73.6 (2019)- 17.5 points
• Murphey Candler Elementary School- from 51.7 (2018) to 63.4 (2019)- 11.7 points
• Dresden Elementary School- from 62.9 (2018) to 73.9 (2019)- 11.0 points
• Redan Elementary School- from 51.0 (2018) to 61.7 (2019)- 10.7 points
• Rowland Elementary School- from 58.2 (2018) to 68.5 (2019)- 10.3 points
• Dunaire Elementary School- from 64.3 (2018) to 74.3 (2019)- 10.0 points

Likewise, the following nineteen (19) schools demonstrated double-digit increases in their 2019 CCRPI score:
