Students in the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) can now apply to enroll at the school of their choice. Open enrollment for the 2020-2021 School Choice program begins on January 7, 2020, at 9 a.m. and closes on February 7, 2020, at 4 p.m.

During that time, district families can plan to attend one of DCSD’s many diverse charter schools, challenging dual immersion language programs, and distinguished magnet campuses during the 2020-2021 school year. Whether it’s at the elementary, middle, or high school level, each DCSD family has the opportunity to choose a school that suits its children’s academic needs.

Students currently enrolled in DeKalb County schools need their student ID number and a parent’s email address. New, private- or home-schooled students need a parent’s email, proof of residence, a birth certificate, a 2019 fall semester report card, a DCSD-issued affidavit of residence, and the student’s latest MAP test scores (for magnet programs only).

Parents with questions and in need of support can make an appointment at the Parent Support Center at 1192 Clarendon Ave, Avondale Estates, GA 30002, by calling 678-676-0050 or 678-676-0035.

During the open enrollment period, students can also apply online by visiting www.dekalbschoolsga.org/school-choice. The website has a complete list of School Choice programs as well as a schedule of tours throughout January and February.

DCSD offers two charter school options: Conversion Charter or Start-up Charter. Conversion charter schools are part of the DCSD School Choice process. Start-up charter schools have a separate application process outside of DCSD School Choice. Contact individual schools for details.
